A fair question before you pay for anything: is the examination element I need actually in here? Go Ham contains seven FCC commercial operator question pools, with 2,860 questions in total.
| Element | Official subject | Questions |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Basic Radio Law and Operating Practice | 144 |
| 3 | General Radiotelephone | 600 |
| 6 | Advanced Radiotelegraph | 616 |
| 7 | GMDSS Radio Operating Practices | 600 |
| 7R | Restricted GMDSS Radio Operating Practices | 300 |
| 8 | Ship Radar Techniques | 300 |
| 9 | GMDSS Radio Maintenance Practices and Procedures | 300 |
2,860 questions in total. Every one of them has answer choices and a written solution, and every one is available offline.
These are examination-element pools, not seven standalone licences. Several FCC credentials require a combination. For example, the General Radiotelephone Operator License requires Elements 1 and 3, while the full GMDSS Radio Operator's License requires Elements 1 and 7.
Check the FCC's current Commercial Radio Operator License Program page before you begin. It is the source of truth for which element combination your credential requires.
Once you choose a pool in Go Ham, practice tests, progress, and targeted review narrow to that material. You can switch pools at any time, and your progress is kept separately.
Each element is broken into topics, so you can drill a weak area instead of re-running the whole bank. Filter by topic, or by the questions you keep getting wrong, and spend your time where it is actually costing you marks.
Go Ham is FCC commercial radio, full stop. No deck licences, no engineering tickets. If you want a radio ticket, this is the app. If you want an unlimited master's, this is not.
We would rather cover one thing completely than five things badly.
